VeteranDale Dye, 72, Dies Dec. 18

Dale Dye, 72, of Abingdon, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 1985, at Cottage Hospital at Galesburg.

He was born Jan. 23, 1913 in Marietta, a son of John and Clinnie Jones Dye. He married Betty Smith Nov. 29, 1941 in Kahoka, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Patricia Pratt of Abingdon; a granddaughter; and two brothers, Ray of Macomb and Clair of Table Grove.

He attended school in Point Pleasant, had farmed around Camp Ellis in his early years and had been employed by Abingdon Pottery for 36 years before retiring. He had resided in Abingdon 45 years, was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Abingdon American Legion Post 381.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Larson Funeral Home in Abingdon with Duane Noecker officiating. Burial was in Abingdon Cemetery. Graveside military rites were conducted by American Legion Post 381.
