E. Blake Devitt, 93, of Rushville, died Monday, Nov. 4, 1985, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
He was born Oct. 4, 1892, in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, a son of Alva E. and Annie Weber Devitt. He married Helen J. Haskell May 18, 1918, in Chillicothe, Ohio. She died July 28, 1985.
Surviving are a son, William of Rushville; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
He was a retail merchant 77 years the last being in charge of advertising and displays at Moreland and Devitt Drug Store. He was an Army veteran of World War I.
He was a member of Rushville First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and choir member, a 60-year member of Silver Cord Masonic Lodge in Cleveland, Ohio, Schuyler Post 4 American Legion and Rushville Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Rushville with Rev. Michel Orsted officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
