James E. Danner, 45, of Gladstone, died Friday evening, Nov. 8, 1985, near Creston, Iowa, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born May 15, 1940, in Astoria, a son of Clarence and Susan Myrtle Holt Danner. He married Linda Kay Phoenix Aug. 4, 1961 in Macomb. She preceded him in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Rhonda S. Danner of Gladstone and Tonya S. Danner of Oquawka; two sons, James T. and Joshua C., both of Oquawka; three sisters, Mrs. Stan (Patricia) Fothergill of Elkhart, Ind., Mrs. Ron (Virginia) Fries of York, Penn., Mrs. George (Barbara) Mason of Mesa, Ariz.; and one brother, Clarence “Jack” Danner of Rock Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
He attended grade school in Astoria and high school in Macomb. He worked for 10 years as a roadmaster for the Burlington Northern Railroad and enjoyed bowling.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Sederwall Chapel in Biggsville with Rev. John Grimes officiating. Burial was in the Industry Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City.
