David W. Cooper, 67 Year Dealer, Dies Thursday

David W. Cooper, 80, a lifetime Astoria resident, died early Thursday morning, April 17, 1975, at his home, following a brief illness.

He was born June 26, 1894, in Fulton County, a son of William S. and Margaret Stephens Cooper. He married Helen A. Merrill on Aug. 20, 1917. She died Sept. 11, 1956.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Vivian Langille of Hudson, Ohio; one son, Robert W. Cooper of Astoria; and two grandchildren.

Mr. Cooper was the oldest active automobile dealer in Fulton County, for 67 years the owner-operator of Cooper’s Motor Co. in Astoria. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1916. He was a member of the Illinois Automobile Dealers Association and the National Automobile Dealers Association.

Mr. Cooper was a member of the United Methodist Church and Astoria Masonic Lodge No. 100.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. James Freisner officiating. Burial was in the Astoria Cemetery.
