Herman F. Cox, 76, of 325 Poplar St., Canton, died at 10:10 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 1975, at Graham Hospital in Canton.
He was born July 31, 1898, in Vermont, a son of Ebenezer and Alphabelle Adams Cox. He married Hildred Parrish on Dec. 24, 1918, at Lewistown. She survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Lancaster of Dalton; a son, Burton L. Cox of Oakland, Calif.; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Mrs. Florence Campbell of Canton. A brother died earlier.
Mr. Cox retired in 1960 from Truax-Traer Coal Co., after 25 years of service.
He was a member of the United Mine Workers; Spoon River Valley Shrine Club; First Congregational Church; AF & AM Lodge 534 of Cuba; Peoria Consistory; Mohammed Temple Shrine; and Elks Lodge 626.
Private services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home with Rev. Robert Crawford officiating. Burial was in the Vermont Cemetery.
