Mrs. Carol Collins, 38, of Banner was found dead on a bed at about 12:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 1975, in Jerry’s Motel, Banner. She was found by Ronald Melvin, a resident of the motel.
Mrs. Collins apparently died of a self-inflicted .22-caliber pistol wound, according to George Kauzlarich, Fulton County coroner. The pistol was found beside the bed.
Mrs. Collins was born Oct. 7, 1936, a daughter of Charles and Florence Gordon. They died earlier. She married Paul Collins on Aug. 7, 1952, at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. He died April 22, 1972.
Surviving are three sons, Charles, Paul and Tom Collins, all at home; four daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Nancy) Wright of Ipava and Clara, Tonja and Joesette Collins, all at home; and two sisters, Mrs. Nancy Fulton and Mrs. Susan Diekow, both of San Antonio, Texas.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Glasford Chapel of the Kuecks-Woolsey Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Verdun officiating. Burial was in the Kingston Mines Cemetery.
