He was born Aug. 16, 1931, in Bayonne, N.J., the son of Charles and Ivy Milne Berry. He married Beverly J. Belanger on Sept. 18, 1954, in Middletown, N.Y.
Surviving are one son, David Berry (and Joanne) of Glen Carbon; one daughter, Kim Root (and Rocky) of Quincy; five grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
He graduated from St. Lawrence University. He was a former member of the Junior League of Middleton, N.Y. In 1964, he moved to Rushville to be the administer at the Sarah D. Culbertson Memorial Hospital for 29 years, retiring in 1993.
There will be no services.
