Kenneth Bartlett Dies At Age 84

Kenneth L. Bartlett, 84, of Mt. Sterling, formerly of Vermont and Rushville, died at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 1985, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

Born May 10, 1901, in Schuyler County to Samuel and Mary Eifert Bartlett, he married Bessie Croxton in Rushville Aug. 16, 1921. She died March 29, 1962.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Wilma McCombs of Chicago and Mrs. James A. (Betty) Galloway of Mt. Sterling; two sisters, Mrs. Lois Illman and Mrs. Margaret Crum, both of Rushville; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; three great, great-grandchildren; and four step-great, great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville, with Rev. Robert O’Brien officiating. Burial was in Rushville Cemetery.

He farmed in Schuyler County as a young man and later was employed by Amax Coal Co. in Vermont as a surveyor’s helper. He retired in 1966 and moved to Mt. Sterling.
