VeteranHallie Belville Of Beardstown Dies

Hallie H. Belville, 73, of Beardstown, died at 8:40 p.m. Friday, Mar. 22, 1985, at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

He was born in Browning, Dec. 28, 1911, the son of John and Rebecca Belville. He married Dorothy Dewitt June 16, 1940 in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Winifred Sigel of Oak Park; two sisters, Mrs. Twila Newell of Beardstown, and Mrs. Ethel Clements of Rushville; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Belville attended Browning Grade Schools and Rushville High School, and worked as a commercial fisherman, hunting guide for the Sanganois Gun Club, and a foundry worker for Caterpillar Tractor Co.

In June, 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific, until November, 1945. After his discharge from the Navy, he worked for the Dept. of Conservation as a maintenance worker until his retirement in 1973.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Browning, National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited, and the V.F.W. Post 1239 in Beardstown.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Sager Northcutt Funeral Home in Beardstown with Rev. Howard Stevens officiating. Burial was in Browning Cemetery.

Memorials have been requested for the Beardstown Hospital and Heart Fund.
