Vermont Youth Dies In Crash

A Vermont resident was fatally injured as a result of an accident near St. David in Fulton County at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 1975.

Sherman M. Beever, 18, of Vermont was a passenger in a car driven by Robert A. Wilson, 28, of Canton. They were both pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Fulton County Coroner George Kauzlarich.

Another passenger, Chris Whaley, 17, of Canton was admitted to Graham Hospital and transferred to St. Francis Hospital in Peoria and the driver of the second car, Tabetha Howarter, 34, of St. David was admitted to Graham Hospital for treatment of injuries.

According to the report of Fulton County Sheriff’s officers, Wilson was southbound and the Howarter car was northbound when the two collided.

Funeral services for Mr. Beever were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Christian Church in Vermont with Rev. John Derry officiating. Burial was in the Vermont Cemetery.

Mr. Beever was born on Feb. 1, 1957, at Macomb, a son of Willard and Melba Jean Miller Beever.

He was employed as an iron worker with the Local 112, Baldwin Associates of Havana. He was a member of the Vermont Christian Church.

In addition to his father of Vermont, Mr. Beever is survived by his stepmother, Mary Katherine Beever of Vermont; three sisters, Mrs. Joann Bunge of Lewistown, Miss Sandra Jean Beever of Fairfield, Iowa, and Mrs. Faye Marie Hickle of Bermuda. His mother preceded him in death on Feb. 1, 1957.
