Mrs. Stella M. Baumgardner of Galesburg, a former Vermont resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the Cottage Hospital in Galesburg. She had resided in a Galesburg nursing home the past year.
Mrs. Baumgardner was born at Mulvane, Kans., on Oct. 10, 1885, to James A. and Nettie Smith Dye. She married John W. Baumgardner on Jan. 18, 1906. He died May 7, 1960. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving are nine sons and daughters, James of Vermont; Walter of Round Lake; John and George, both of Galesburg; Wallace of Bushnell; Maurice of Campbell, Calif.; Mrs. Bertha Fail of Elmwood; Mrs. Catherine Thurman of Peoria; and Mrs. Betty Cigan of Jim Falls, Wis.
Also surviving are 35 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, James Dye of Atkinson, Ill.; and 2 sisters, Mrs. Marie Mauk of Rock Island, and Mrs. Edith Fawcett of Davenport, Iowa. One daughter, five sisters and one brother are deceased.
Funeral services were held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Kost Memorial Home in Vermont, with burial in the Vermont Cemetery.
