Robert AlbersRobert Jeffery Albers, 78, of Cape Coral, Fla., died at his home.

He was born April 26, 1947, a son of the late Robert and Laverne Evans Albers. He married Nancy Jane Baker on Dec. 10, 1983, in Rushville. She preceded him in death on June 25, 2018.

Surviving are two daughters, Bree Albers of Springfield and Janell Clark of Cape Coral, Fla.; two stepsons, John Knous and Scot Knous; one stepdaughter, Kathy Moore; one brother, Mark Albers; one sister, Jonna Herring; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He served in the United States Navy as a Corpsman during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he moved to Springfield where he worked as a paramedic. He later moved to Rushville and served the community as Sheriff’s Deputy for several years.

He was a member of Rushville Moose Lodge #1009 and Schuyler American Legion Post #4.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 9, at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Fred Fritz officiating. Burial followed at Rushville City Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Schuyler American Legion Post #4 and the U.S. Navy Honors Detail.

Memorials may be made to the Schuyler County Humane Society.
