Nancy Stauffer
She was born June 13, 1930, in Buenavista Township, Schuyler County, a daughter of Arthur and Elsie Inez Clements Stephens. She married Robert Eugene Stauffer on Dec. 25, 1948, in Rushville. He preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by one sister, Doris Madelyn Schoonover; and two brothers, Harold Arthur (Bud) Stephens and Jimmie Ray Stephens. Surviving are two sons, Michael Allen (and Karen) Stauffer of Rushville and their two children, Kristen Michelle (and Eric) Streeter of Mahomet and their son, Grant Alan Rexroat of Indianapolis, Ind., Eric Ryan (and Melissa) Stauffer of Rushville and their daughter, Amelia Elizabeth; and her second son, Gary Robert Stauffer of Macomb and his children, Feana Kara (and Jason) Nevel of Springfield and their daughter, Emaline Malea and Breann Rose (and Matt) Weaver of Colchester and their children, Easton David and Jaxon Robert. She and her husband were active members of Littleton United Methodist Church until their move to Rushville. She was a current member of Rushville United Methodist Church, where in the past she and Bob annually arranged the Consecration Sunday meal. Her first job was also her last. She began out of high school as a telephone operator at Schuyler Telephone Company. She soon advanced to office jobs and 44 years later retired in 1992 as the office manager of Schuyler Telephone Company, then a Rochester Tel subsidiary. She served after retirement as the curator of the Schuyler Jail Museum, having a grand interest in genealogy. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Stacy Tomich officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Schuyler Jail Museum or Snack for Kids, a First United Methodist Church program.
