Jan Anderson

Jan AndersonJan Anderson, 73, of Rushville died Sept. 26, 2025, at Carle Bromenn Medical Center in Bloomington.

She was born Oct. 29, 1951, in Mattoon, spending the majority of her younger years in Charleston. She was the daughter of Nell and Gene Wheeler, and sister to Mike and the late Jack Wheeler. Her sister-in-law, Mariolyn Baer, was as close as one could get to a real sister.

She has three children, Donovan Anderson, Jenny (and John) Henry and Kasey (and John) Wynn; and four grandchildren, Anna Henry, Mia Henry, Harper Wynn and Ellie Wynn.

She loved her time volunteering at the Humane Society.

She worked in several nursing positions throughout her years, though she touched the most lives during her tenure as Hospice Director.

She was the leader of multiple choirs (vocal and bells), and the occasional pianist for church services at First United Methodist Church in Rushville. She helped with the youth group and pioneered some mission trips.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville. Open visitation will be 9-11 a.m. A service will begin at 11 a.m. with burial at Rushville City Cemetery, followed by a lunch at First United Methodist Church in Rushville. To celebrate Jan’s love of flowers and sunshine, we request that everyone come dressed in bright, happy colors.

Memorials may be made to JSA Revokable Trust, to continue Jan’s legacy of providing for her son Donovan’s ongoing care needs.

Condolences may be sent to www.worthingtonfh.com.
