 Leonard “Wheezer” Hammond
Leonard Verne “Wheezer” Hammond, 99, of Macomb, formerly of Adair, died at 2:10 a.m. Sept. 3, 2025, at Wesley Village Health Care Center in Macomb.
He was born Nov. 6, 1925, in McDonough County, the son of Leonard and Myrtle Wilson Hammond. He married Norma Jean Trotter. She preceded him in death in 2014.
He also was preceded in death by one sister, Barb Sayers.
Surviving are one son, Ed (and Kandy) Hammond of Ipava; one daughter, Pam (and Don) Paisley of Peoria, Ariz.; and two grandchildren, Erin and Ryan.
He lived in the Adair area where he farmed all of his life. He was a graduate of Adair High School. He was an Army veteran serving during World War II as a Military Police Officer for two years.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date. Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of arrangements.
