Roberta Horton
She was born Aug. 16, 1953, in Canton, a daughter of Ruby M. Richardson and J.D. Groff. She married John Horton. He survives. Also surviving are one sister, Evelyn West (and Clay); one sister-in-law, Alicia Groff; two nieces, Cassidie Luther (and Ben) and Kristin West-Herrera (and Isaac); one nephew, Michael Groff; and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Allen Groff. She was a longtime resident of Seguin, Texas, where she was a member of Emmanuel’s Lutheran Church. She was an avid horsewoman who trained, and competed on barrel horses. She also enjoyed writing poems and short stories, some of her poems were published, a personal accomplishment she was very proud of. A memorial service was held Friday at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel in Sequin, Texas, with Rev. Marcus Bigott officiating.
