Daniel Mapes
He was born March 4, 1936, in Morgan County, a son of Marvin and Etta Mae Spears Mapes. He married Carrol E. Hamblin on Jan. 3, 1958, in Kilbourne. She preceded him in death on Aug. 25, 2021. He also was preceded in death by one sister, Glenna Middleton; and one brother, Harold Mapes. Surviving are five children, Charlene (and Phillip) Davis of Kilbourne, Myron (and Kristin) Mapes of Riverton, Ayron (and Melanie) Mapes of Snowflake, Ariz., Ryan (and Susan) Mapes of Lyndon and Bryan (and Terri) Mapes of Havana; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He worked as an applicator for KIFCO and FS for over 30 years, retiring in 1998. He also did welding for the companies. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Southern Baptist Church in Kilbourne where he served as a trustee and greeter for the Sunday school program for many years. He was a former member of the Kilbourne Township Board. Services were held Tuesday, Aug. 25, at the Mt. Zion Southern Baptist Church in Kilbourne with Pastor Randy Wilson officiating. Burial was at the Mt. Zion Southern Baptist Cemetery.
