Doris Morrell

Doris Darlene Smith Morrell, 88, died Aug. 14, 2025. A lifelong resident of Rushville, she spent her last five years in Tennessee.

She was born Aug. 19, 1936, a daughter of George Washington Smith and Pearl Heron Smith.

Surviving are five children, Joanie Morrell, Susan Ard, Kristy Shouse (and Mike), Randy Morrell (and Paige) and Kelly Ann Morrell-Chapman (and Joe); and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Nina Smith, Agnes Wheelhouse and Grace Powell.

In her younger years, Doris worked for Mickleberry’s and later at Rushville Cleaners for many years before proudly running her own laundry business.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Rushville.

A funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Pastor Matt Haberman officiating. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday.
