Shirley Helle
She was born Nov. 5, 1934, in Fiatt, a daughter of Floyd and Helen Abbott Cleer. She married David Helle. He preceded her in death in 2008. She also was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Champlin. Surviving are her children, Cynthia Helle of Astoria, David (and Janeen) Helle of Rockford, Mich., and Ramona (and Rob) Jacobson of Wells; two brothers, Ray Cleer of Canton and Dale (and Maralyn) Cleer of Hanna City; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She graduated in 1952 from Canton High School in Canton, and from The Comptometer School of Peoria in 1953. She worked many jobs, as a secretary, teacher’s aide and a social worker. She served as a Sunday school teacher, helped with Bible school, kid’s club, AWANA, and served as a deaconess. She loved her women’s Bible study. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Fiatt Independent Christian Church with Pastor Ben Williamson officiating. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. before the service on Saturday. Burial will be at Sinnett Chapel Cemetery in Cuba. Sedgwick Funeral Home in Canton is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, Shirley’s family asks that memorials are sent to United Hospital District Hospice, 125 South Main St., Blue Earth, MN 56013.
