Benny RittenhouseBenny F. Rittenhouse, 83, of Rushville died at his home on Aug. 14, 2026, at 1 a.m. surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born April 10, 1943, in Schuyler County, the son of the late Frances Rittenhouse and Nellie Wallace Rittenhouse. He married Barbara Bigham on July 20, 1966. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Ronnie (and Peggy) of Waukee, Iowa, and Randy (and Nikki) of Macomb; one sister, Linda Crook of Augusta; four grandchildren, Jordan (and Walker) Patterson of Adel, Iowa, Conner Rittenhouse (and fiancé Andrew Hanson) of Ankeny, Iowa, and Erin (and Ryan) Brake and Andrew Rittenhouse, both of Macomb; and two great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Moehnke.

He worked his high school years at Gains Bros Greenhouse in Rushville. After graduation from high school, he worked at Bartlow Bros alongside his father until he was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1964. He was at Fort Leonard Wood Mo., Fort Lee, Va., and then spent 13 months in Korea. After coming home, he got married and they spent four months at Fort Campbell, Ky., until his discharge in November 1968.

On arriving back home in Rushville he went to work at NTN Bower in Macomb where he retired after 39 years.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 1 p.m. at the Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Robert Kirkham officiating. Burial will follow at the Rushville City Cemetery with military honors by the U.S. Army Honors Detail and Schuyler American Legion Post #4. Visitation will be held from noon until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the MDH Hospice or Donor’s choice.
