Mary Cassidy
She was born Jan. 3, 1929, in Beardstown, the daughter of C.R. and Frances Birnbaum Ogilvie. She married William Cassidy on June 8, 1947, in Beardstown. He preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 2009. She also was preceded in death by one brother, Don R. Ogilvie; and one granddaughter, Leslie Ann Cassidy. Surviving are two children, Ann (and Ray) Patridge and James (and Cindy) Cassidy, all of Table Grove; six grandchildren, Jesse Patridge of Macomb, Skylar Patridge of Sante Fe, N.M., Lindsey (and Andrew) Knopp of Marion, Iowa, T.J. (and Deanna) Cassidy of Peoria, Kari Derry of Astoria and Julie (and Mike) Keehnast of Valley Park, Mo.; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She moved to Table Grove with her family during World War II. She graduated from Table Grove High School in 1946 and attended Western Illinois University, where she studied art. She continued to make art all of her life, working in several mediums, including oil painting, pen and ink, weaving, and other textile arts. She lived in Santa Fe, N.M., for 26 years, moving back to Wesley Village in Macomb in November of 2024. While in New Mexico she worked at the Georgia O’keeffe Museum, the Santa Fe Opera gift shop, and as a sales associate for Nambe Designs. She also worked as an assistant to Kathryn Flynn, the founder and director of the National New Deal Preservation Association. In Table Grove, she was active for many years in the Table Grove Community Church and was a member of Chapter C, PEO in Vermont. More recently she was a member of Chapter ME, PEO in Macomb. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Table Grove Community Center. Burial will be at a later date in the Harris Cemetery in Table Grove.
