Mary Lou Scrogum
She was born Feb. 4, 1938, in Rushville, the daughter of Orley and Martha Cable Walters. She married Eldon Scrogum on Feb. 28, 1960, in Springfield. He preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 2003. She also was preceded in death by one stepson, Terry Scrogum; and life-partner, Rodney “Rusty” Belville. Surviving are several family members, friends and the Belville family. She worked for DCFS. She enjoyed getting together with the Red Hat Ladies. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 9, at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Dave Johnson officiating. A visitation with family and friends will take place one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be in the Astoria Cemetery. Mary Lou Scrogum, 88, of Springfield, formerly of Astoria, died at 1:15 p.m. July 4, 2026, at the Springfield Suites Rehab and Nursing.
