Elza Collins

Elza E. Collins, 77, of Mt. Sterling died June 21, 2026, at his home.

He was born Nov. 27, 1948, in Mountain Home, Ark., a son of Elmer Lloyd and Faye Ola Taber Collins. He married Carol Marshall on Aug. 30, 1975, in Mt. Sterling. She survives.

Also surviving are nine children, Brett (and Dawn) Bemis, Krystal (and Roger) Roan, Scott (and Donna) Bemis, Tammy Large, Patricia Forster, Kay (and Rex) Powell, Kathy (and David) Davis, Jessica Collins and David (and Lisa) Collins; four sisters, Shirley Kemper, Anna Goudschoal, Sharon (and Dennis) Hillyer and Judy (and Robert) Phelps; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Bill Collins, Donald Collins, Elmer R. Collins and Gerald Collins.

He was a logger for his entire career with the exception of a brief stint in the construction industry.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is in charge of arrangements.
