Dayle BucherDayle Eugene Bucher, 77, of Bedford, Iowa, died May 28, 2026.

He was born Aug. 11, 1948, in Beardstown, a son of Allen and Nelda Kessler Bucher. He married Patricia Gobel on June 26, 1971. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Dale (and Lorna), Nate (and Pam), Jason (and Amber) and Shawn (and Kelli); and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 10 siblings, Arthur Bucher (and Maxine), Ramona Bucher, Beverly Bucher, Irene Shaw (and Willie), Maxine Cox (and Ralph), Leta Bucher, Nedra Bollinger (and Virgil), Doris Baker (and Louie), Bernice Wright and Maynard Bucher; two nephews, Scottie Bollinger and Billie Wright; and two granddaughters, Cora Zelma Bucher and Kendall Kalyn Bucher.

He graduated from high school in Astoria in 1966. After high school, he farmed until he joined the Army in 1968 where he served until 1970 when he was honorably discharged with a Vietnam campaign medal. He continued to serve as a reserve until 1973.

Upon his return home in 1971, he and his wife moved to the family farm. He worked for International Harvester in Canton, for 10 years, until it closed. He then worked for Archer Oil as a salesman. A promotion to district salesman, led him and his family to Bedford, Iowa, in 1986. He went on to work at Precision Pulley in Lenox, Iowa, and retired in 2014 from Maryville Treatment Center in Maryville, Mo.

A Celebration of Life was held with a visitation on Sunday, May 31, at Cummings Funeral Home. Funeral service was held Monday, June 1, at the First Baptist Church in Bedford, Iowa, with burial following at Fairview Cemetery.
