Gary Bloyd
He was born Oct. 6, 1943, at Graham Hospital in Canton, the son of V.K. and Ione Howerter Bloyd. Surviving are his wife, Judy Keefauver Bloyd; two children, Doug Bloyd of Ore City, Texas, and Dee Bloomberg of Joplin; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company in Peoria for 31 years until retiring. His final wishes were to be cremated and then return home to his final resting place in Ipava. A memorial graveside service will be held Saturday, May 30, at 10:30 a.m. in the Ipava Cemetery. A Celebration of Gary’s Life will follow at the Ipava American Legion from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements. Gary Bloyd, 82, of Joplin, Mo., died at 12:15 a.m. March 17, 2026, at National Health Care in Joplin of natural causes.
