Danny HanningDanny T. Hanning, 68, of Huntsville died Feb. 11, 2026, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

He was born June 18, 1957, in Rushville, a son of the late Glen and Mary Bovey Hanning. He married his wife of fifty years, Janet, on Aug. 24, 1975, in Huntsville at his parents’ home. She survives.

Also surviving are four children, Brandy (and Jamie) Orr, Becky (and Tom) Luttrell, Sarah (and Luke) Hanning-Ludwig and Andy (and Kayla) Hanning; four siblings, Bonnie Hanning, Peggy Dillon, Nancy Willis and Rob Hanning; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Ryan and Gunnar Hanning, two other grandchildren; and one great-grandson, Owen Hornung.

He was devoted to his family farm. He raised cattle and hogs all his life. He grew corn, soybeans and grains and baled hay.

He began his second career as Huntsville Township Highway Commissioner in 1989 and continued to hold that position up to the time of his death. He was dedicated to making sure his roads were the best they could be, and he was passionate about the importance of local government. He joined the TOI Board of Directors in 2008 and served on the Executive Board in 2016, through two terms as President in 2016 and 2022. He also served on the Township Highway Commissioner’s Board for several years.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 18, from 4-6 p.m. at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m. with Dixie Croxton officiating.

Memorials may be made to Brown County Hunters Association, Rushville FFA or Township Officials of Illinois Scholarship Fund.
