 Monte Welker
 Monte E. Welker, 91, of Maryville, Tenn., died Jan. 15, 2026, at his home.
He was born Nov. 2, 1934, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Willard Welker and Teresa Amrine Welker Smith of Vermont.
Surviving are his wife, Janice Welker of Maryville, Tenn.; and one daughter, Julie Lynn Welker of Knoxville, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by one infant sister, Nancy Sue Welker; and one daughter, Cynthia Carol Welker.
After graduating high school, he attended Western in Macomb before serving in the submarine service of the Navy in the Korean War. He then attended the University of Iowa and became a hospital administrator.
He loved to build health care facilities. He authored two books. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Vermont.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life was held Jan. 25 at Maryville Seventh-day Adventist Church, Maryville. Foothills Funeral Home in Maryville was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials in the form of donations should go to St. Judes or Shriners Hospitals in Memphis, Tenn.
