Richard Bollinger
Richard “Wayne” Bollinger, 95, of Browning died Jan. 19, 2026 at the Rushville Nursing Center.
He was born Sept. 1, 1930, in Browning, a son of the late Herschel A. Bollinger and Mildred Rittenhouse Bollinger. He married the late Dora J. “Dee” Young on May 22, 1951, in Browning.
Surviving are two daughters, Anita Mercer (and Bruce) of Vermont and Melanie Waller of Rushville; two sons, Wendell Bollinger of Del City, Okla., and Rick Bollinger of Browning; three brothers, Larry Bollinger of Astoria, Charlie Bollinger (and LuAnn) of Astoria and Paul Bollinger of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three sisters, Linda Booth (and Paul) of Beardstown, Patsy Self of Beardstown and Sue Dotzert (and Dave) of Beardstown; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Michael; one granddaughter, Shannon Curths; one brother, Leo Bollinger; and three sisters, Juanita Bollinger, Marianne Agans and Beverly Treadman.
He was a lifelong farmer and logger, and for a short time worked at Caterpillar in Peoria and Ford Garage in Rushville. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Browning Central Christian Church, a Board Member of Spoon River R.E.A, Southside Mission in Springfield, Soyland Power Cooperative and served as Browning Township Supervisor for many years.
Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 23, at 10 a.m. at the Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Brother Matt Haberman and Mr. John Plunket officiating. Burial will follow at Browning Cemetery with military honors by US AirForce and Schuyler American Legion Post No. 4. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
