Beatrice Meeker

Beatrice MeekerBeatrice Meeker, 84, of Canton died at 8 a.m. Jan. 1, 2026, at Red Oak Memory Care in Canton.

She was born Jan. 18, 1941, in Havana, a daughter of James and Nellie Chenoweth Schisler. She married David Meeker on Dec. 30, 1982, in Jacksonville. He survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Becky (and Montie) Wilcoxen and Shellie (and Perri) Green, both of Canton, Carla (and Jim) Wright of Bloomington and Angie (and Carey) Davis of Hudson; one brother, Curt (and Linda) Schisler of Ipava; two sisters, Barb Dohner of Ipava and Susan (and David) Blickhan of Quincy; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was the owner/operator of Fabra-Knit in Lewistown for many years. She also worked at the Barton-Stone Home in Jacksonville and the National Benevolent Association in St. Louis. She was a pianist and choir director at churches in Lewistown, Jacksonville, St. Louis and accompanied student musicians at competitions. She was a member of First Christian Church in Canton.

Services will be held at noon Jan. 7, at First Christian Church in Canton where visitation will be one hour prior to services. A luncheon will follow at the church. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 7, in Ipava Cemetery in Ipava. Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton is in charge of arrangements.
